PREPARATIONS for the 4th annual AACTA awards are well underway, with actress Cate Blanchett flying into Sydney to begin rehearsals.

Hollywood’s leading lady will co-host the awards night alongside The Sapphires actress, Deborah Mailman later this month and posed up alongside her in a photo-shoot for The Telegraph in Sydney on Saturday.

The pair, who hadn’t seen each other for a while, spent a few minutes catching up, before shooting the video opener for the night’s broadcast.

“It’s an honour to host the 4th AACTA Awards with Deb, a shining light of Australian film and television,” Blanchett said.

“The AACTAs celebrate our nation’s creativity and our talents as storytellers, and I’m proud to be part of this national celebration.”

The AACTA Awards will be held at The Star Event Centre in Sydney on January 29 and will be broadcast on Network 10.

AACTA President Geoffrey Rush said Mailman and Blanchett are the perfect pairing.

“I encourage everyone to tune in to see these performers at play,” he said.

There will be a new award introduced to the awards night this year, and details of who is set to receive the gong will be announced exclusively with The Sunday Telegraph next week.

Among the guests tipped to attend the glamorous night include Kat Stewart, Marta Dusseldorp, Danielle Cormack and actors, Lachy Hulme, Yilmaz Erdogan, Stephen Curry, Dan Wyllie and Adam Zwar.
